We have decided that along with change we are going to save our dollar bills. We used to do this and it adds up really quickly. We had to stop when times got really bad for us there for a while. DH broke his arm in two places, spent several days in the hospital, and was out of work for about 5 months. Anyway, he started a great job in October and we are finally getting back on track.
When I got my money out of my wallet today to put together my bank deposit for tomorrow I was suprised I had 15 dollar bills. I took 1 out of our change jar (the only one in there) and DH had 3 in his wallet. Total for today is $19.00.
We will not count the change we collect until it is actually deposited. It will be easier to keep up with this way.
I cashed out all my online earning today but it will take up to 8 weeks for some of it to go into my paypal account or come by check so I won't count that either until I get it.
Starting total: 95.00
Money today: 19.00
New total: 114.00

That's one change I decided to make for saving this year. I still will "buy" two rolls of quarters when I get my monthly check, but I will also be saving my $1 bills in addition to loose change.
Pay myself first: $20 x 12 = $240. If it's possible, I will put more than that into my home savings can, but $20 per month is a must.
